About Me
· My Impact
o Having spent six decades of roaming around the world, I can look back on a life deeply interwoven with the world of startups, a journey that has spanned more than half of my life in various roles and capacities. My path has been anything but traditional: I began as a medical school dropout—not due to a lack of interest in learning, but because I was more captivated by socializing and living in the moment. Eventually, I chose to pursue an engineering degree, though somewhat reluctantly, simply to secure a professional qualification. Engineering turned out to be easy for me, and to my relief, I found I didn’t have to study too rigorously to succeed.
o After more than a decade in the professional world, I felt compelled to expand my knowledge base and broaden my strategic perspective, leading me to pursue an MBA. I saw this as an essential step to deepen my understanding of business theory and operations. Then, fifteen years later, I embraced yet another challenge, earning a PhD from the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology, Madras. Both my MBA and PhD were completed part-time, alongside a highly demanding work schedule—demonstrating my commitment to lifelong learning and my determination to balance growth with real-world responsibilities.
o What sets me apart is the unique blend of experience I bring across the domains of startups, professional careers, academia, and even policy. My professional journey has also been marked by extensive international exposure. I have lived and worked in Malaysia, India, and the United Kingdom for extended periods, fully immersing myself in each culture and adapting to vastly different lifestyles. In addition, I have had the privilege of working extensively in Canada and Singapore, with shorter assignments in China, Indonesia, and the United States. These global experiences have not only enriched my worldview but have also equipped me with a rare ability to approach challenges from a multicultural perspective, blending cultural insight with professional expertise.
